General
Nata is 2hrs north of Francistown and 3hrs south of both Maun and Kasane - see map. The Lodge itself is located 10km south of Nata
village and due to its beautiful setting, good location and friendly atmosphere has become a popular place to stop for tourists wishing to break
their journey to Northern Botswana.
What to see and doNata Lodge arrange excursions into the Makgadikgadi Pans, which aren't far away, as well as game drives to Nata
Sanctuary which is 5km away. Sunset drives to Nata Sanctuary are popular allowing you to experience the vastness of the Pans as well as seeing
something of the amazing birdlife that inhabits this harsh landscape.
The bushveld around the Lodge is habitat for a wide variety of birds with numerous finches, parrots, buntings, weavers and doves attracted to the
'wild bird feeding area' just next to the restaurant. Specials to look out for include Pied Babbler, Green-winged Pytilia, Meyer's Parrot and
Violet-eared Waxbill to name a few.
Tree squirrels also frequent the Lodge and their noisy antics will provide amusement, whilst at night Bushbabys can be seen in the trees around the
Lodge and campsite.
There is a swimming pool and a good restaurant (the breakfast is recommended) as well as a well-stocked curio shop make this a good place to stop
even if you don't plan to stay the night.
Accommodation
Accommodation ranges from luxury thatched chalets to A-frame tents which have all been newly built following a devastating bush fire
in 2008. There is also a reasonably sized camping area which has some of the best ablutions in any camping site in Botswana!
